《灵笼》是一部具有现实意义并带有科幻色彩的动画。在动画的开头，人类赖以生存的地球被攻击的体无完肤，幸存下来的人类也寥寥无几。面对如此巨大的灾难，幸存的人们开辟了一片建筑在空中的灯塔，秉持着留得青山在不怕没柴烧的理念，在那里休养生息。

攻击地球的邪恶生物依旧在地球横行霸道肆意穿行，人们也在紧锣密鼓的商量对策，势必要将属于人类自己的家园夺回来。但那群没有是非善恶观念的不明生物不会给人类任何谈判的机会，于是幸存下来的人类也在探索另一个适于宜居的家园。动画当中出现的每一个人物都拥有十分鲜明的性格特征，他们都运用自己的特长为人类的生存大计出谋划策，每一个人物都刻画的十分有血有肉，让我们见证到了在面对灾难时齐心协力的地球人。
